you think-it counts?

i have been thinking about cliches lately. and it has become my unique obsession to dissect them and understand why they became cliches. the most recent is, "it's the thought that counts." it is somewhat unsettling to me, and i cannot agree with that statement on its own. if it is the thought that counts, then nothing would get done. in my life it has been used as an excuse to pass the buck (another great expression). i love when we people pass to things that are impossibly the problem. there is a beautiful mystery in the thinking-saying-doing process. skipping a step leaves the process incomplete. i may think of a name for the process one day. in this process each step is vital, so maybe i would extend this and say, "its the thought that counts to God, the voice that counts to your enemy, and the action that counts to both."

i feel pretty good about that statement...for now. :)

truly getting to know yourself will not only be the most sobering experience, but you may also find you are the most difficult person to get to know
